Ford Predicts Three Million Vehicles by 2008

2008 Ford Fusion HybridAmidst its stupendous troubles Ford is still optimistic about its future. The automaker has forecasted that it will be building three million vehicles, and its North American manufacturing plants will be running at 100 percent capacity by 2008.

In the next six years, Ford expects to close 16 plants within the next six years under its current restructuring plan. According to the automaker capacity in 2008 would be projected at 100 percent “as a result of plant idlings as well as shift eliminations and line speed reductions.”

By the end of 2008 Ford would have cut $5 billion in annual costs by eliminating 10,000 white-collar workers and offering buyouts to all 75,000 union workers.
