The Year for Isuzu Trucks

Japan’s Isuzu Motors Ltd announced recently that it has laid the groundwork in purchasing land for the company’s U.S. truck plant. It will be shoveled in Alabama paving the way to reestablish a production base in the mainstream automotive market worldwide. Most of its Isuzu parts will also be manufactured at the aforementioned plant. Isuzu haven’t elaborated details for plans on the factory but an insider source claimed that the plant was scheduled to come in line around 2010 and main annual production capacity would be over a thousand units.

Trucks have provided owners the much needed hauling and towing so its availability surging through the world’s leading markets to meet customers’ needs. After long years of restructuring and building trucks, the truck maker is hoping to boost truck sales and cash in more profits in the United States, crossing to offset the languished domestic demand. It did pull out of a joint venture of vehicle production with Fuji heavy industries Ltd in 2002 which built its renowned sport utility vehicles (SUVs).

According to Isuzu last year, the firm’s crafting a plan to build a plant in North America, adding that a local factory would be suitable when U.S. truck sales mounted to 50,000 production units annually. Koitsu Mabuchi, Isuzu spokesperson noted that the land costs a sturdy $7.8 million. The facility’s looking at manufacturing 2-3 tonne trucks in addition to Isuzu’s solitary offering of 3.5 tonne N-Series trucks in the United States.

Isuzu actually sold 28,000 vehicles in 2006 in the U.S. alone. Most of the units were exported traditionally. It subcontracts production of the gasoline edition of the N-Series to former top shareholder and famed automaker General Motors Co.

Looks like we just have to wait for more of Isuzu’s truck production and play it by ear then.
