2007 Dodge Nitro To Be Produced At The Toledo North Assembly Plant

Dodge brought the very first mid-sized SUV in their lineup to the public during the 2006 Chicago Auto Show last February. This was the 2007 Dodge Nitro.

Chrysler Group announced that they would produce the 2007 Dodge Nitro in their Toledo North Assembly Plant (TNAP) in Toledo, Ohio. TNAP is also the home of Dodge Nitro’s predecessor, the Jeep Liberty. Chrysler also said that the 2007 Dodge Nitro will represent their expanding Flexible Manufacturing Strategy (FMS) that allows the company to manufacture multiple products faster and with lower costs – all these in just one assembly line.

The 2007 Dodge Nitro is the first mid-sized SUV for Dodge with distinctive style, sporty performance, and exceptional cargo flexibility. Three models are available for the 2007 Nitro – the standard Dodge Nitro, Nitro SLT, and Dodge Nitro R/T. The standard Nitro and Nitro SLT is equipped with a 3.7-liter SOHC V-6 engine that produces 210 horsepower and 235 lb.-ft. amount of torque. The Dodge Nitro R/T features a new and more powerful 4.0-liter V-6 engine that delivers 255 HP and 275 lb.-ft. of torque.

When it comes to its towing capability, the 2007 Nitro can drag anything with a maximum of 5,000 pounds. The Nitro R/T has exclusive 20-inch aluminum chrome-clad wheels, but this is given as an option for the Nitro SLT. Standard safety features of the 2007 Nitro include Electronic Stability Program, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Roll Mitigation and side-curtain airbags.
